Red carpet season is all about the 3g’s. And were not talking about technology, were talking about the glitz, the glamour and the gowns! There were so many amazing styles this year. From Keira Knightly’s plum peplum, to Jennifer Anistons plunging neckline. But among the perfect looks, there were a few not so flattering dresses. So I decided to pull out a few that really stood out above and below the rest.
First we need to talk about Emma Stone. She wins the award for best dressed in my opinion. Her tuxedo jacket layered over a sheer dress was to die for. She took a huge risk, and it definitely paid off. It was very different and I loved it! Another star that stunned on the carpet was Sophia Vergara. She looked red hot in that gorgeous red gown and it was definitely a ‘wow’ moment for her.
Camilla Alveres also looked amazing in a deep purple gown. Everything from the fit, to the color and the style was flawless. And speaking of flawless purple gowns, Keira Knightley worked it in her dark purple peplum gown! The dramatic color was offset by the delicate lace. This is how to look stunning while pregnant!
2 more of my favorites were Lupita Nyongo’s colorful double printed watercolor and striped Elie Saab dress and Jennifer Anistons daring and head turning vintage Galliano dress paired with a drop necklace. The dress was very sexy and different from Jennifers usual red carpet picks.
Along with the fashion stars there were some disappointments. Some of the biggest let downs were Claire Dane and Sophia Bush. Claires dress was quirky but not cool. I thought the belt made the whole outfit look cheap. And the color of Sophia Bush’s dress was decent, but the silhouette wasn’t very flattering. Taryn Manning was pretty high on my list of worst dressed stars as well. Her dress did not flatter her in any way and was not age appropriate. Maybe if it were sleeveless it might have been a little better. But my worst dressed for the night was Laverne Cox. The fit, the color, everything just does not work.
Luckily for these stars, the red carpet season is not close to over. We still have the Grammys and the Oscars to make up for these duds. Overall, there were so many great looks on the carpet. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for us!
